Hold the starch
Wood is the stock in trade for Livio De Marchi. Few carvers approach this scale in craftsmanship.
His signature work is giving wood the appearance of free hanging fabric. Other pieces are life sized cars, horses and furniture, which occasionally float in the canals of Venice.
Some of the more astounding efforts can be seen in Ripley's "Believe It Or Not" museum in Florida and the Museum of Art in Muskegon.
