Quantumfog's been reading about stuff like this for more years than I care to count. Here's a new way to make oil.
A company called LS9, somewhere out in Silicon Valley, has a genetically altered bug that feeds on agricultural waste, woodchips and the like.
It excretes oil. The very same stuff we're paying $140 a barrel for in the Middle East.
Here's where I insert a joke about changing my genes so I can plug my ass into a standard fuel injecter. But seriously, folks...
Is there no end to these stories? LS9 is said to have a working model that can scale up to full production in 2011. I won't hold my breath.
