Second Amendment Smackdown
Two American institutions are prepping for another round in the heavyweight division. Major employers, led by ConocoPhillips have filed a federal lawsuit prohibiting employees from bringing guns into the workplace. The other side is represented by the NRA, whose response is to encourage a nationwide boycott of ConocoPhillips. And they're taking it a step further by encouraging legislation in several states allowing guns to be carried to and from work.
In the case cited, a paper mill in Oklahoma fired several employees for having guns in their locked vehicles. The gunners believe they should have the right to protect their interests while driving to and from their place of employment. It seems the employees at the paper mill were using due diligence, however, common sense is taking a back seat here. Dumbass drivers aside, when do we need to have a firearm on our daily commute? And, whether or not you are an employer, shouldn't you have the right to decide if someone can bring a weapon onto your property?
