How about gas selling for $303,586.62 a gallon?
Zimbabwe's inflation rate, according to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, is presently 1,193% per year. So, wazzat mean in language we can understand?
One US dollar is equal to $101,195.54 in Zimbabwe dollars. Well, it was a few minutes ago.
That means you spend your money as fast as you can, because that roll of toilet paper will cost almost $28,000 more by the end of the month. A job paying $1,000 an hour is chump change. By somebody's estimate, a family of 4 needs to earn over $17,000,000 a month just to stay above the poverty line. Sounds like California.
President Robert Mugabe and his cabinet are being pressured to resign, but he manages to keep enough people happy by printing money as fast as the machines will run. Even so, Zimbabwe dollar notes are in short supply, since everyone carries their money in bags and suitcases.
