NASA needs a way to keep fresh foods and surfaces sanitary on the International Space Station. After going through the usual contracting process, they come up with Pro-San.
It kills 99.999 percent of E.coli, streptococcus, staphylococcus, listeria, cholera and shigella within 30 seconds. They use it directly on fruits and vegetables.
NASA says to use it on counter tops, cutting boards, dishes and sinks. I'd probably want to stay with less expensive cleaners for preparation areas. Pro-San sells in powder form for mixing as a 32oz solution, about $3.60 a package if you tell 'em its a refill.
