HowToons is a very well done mix of cartoons and science, probably just the thing for your 7 to 15 year old.

Some of the stuff looks interesting even to me, but then, in my mind I haven't gone through puberty.

By the way, here's a page on creating a simple 10,000rpm motor with a flashlight battery, a small wire, a screw and a small magnet. Lay the stuff on a table and tell your know-it-all world weary teenager to assemble it in 30 seconds.

After you put the motor together, be sure to tell'em they've been "pwnd". It's pronounced "poned", but if you pronounce it some other way, you get to see 'em wince. I have fun with it.
