Driving for dollars
QuantumFog gives thanks that few things in life are truly mind numbing: government documents, bridal shows and insurance. Any of the three are enough to make my head hit the desktop in a stupor.
But, here's a new wrinkle in the insurance game. Norwich Union in the UK has a pay-as-you-drive policy.
The GPS based system adjusts your premium according to where and when you drive, and your age. In addition to conventional direction capability, it also allows for instant access to the company in case of an accident.
Their sales pitch says low mileage older drivers who frequent low-accident areas, pay less than younger drivers who use accident prone streets.
