Coding for Fun and Commentary
Visitors to the QuantumFog universe may have taken note of the newly appended comment link. It shouldn't require any special mention other than you may have to click reload for your entry to appear.
A previously used website provided "comment storage and retrieval" for a yearly fee. It worked great, until either their website crashed or one of the telecommunication hops had to stop and scratch its ass. The time it took for page downloads became irritating. There's only one answer.
Your peripatetic scribe dutifully searched for options that could be contained on this site. Tried several, such as Holger Kreis' blogkomm and Lars Ellingsens' Guestbook, before settling on Perl_Guestbook from Bio-Web. All are free to use with minor restrictions.
Holger's was preferred, but requires changing all the files to PHP. Didn't want that much work. After eyeballing his site, I re-wrote some of the Perl_Guestbook code to include a little spam protection, limit the number of words to 250 and write to any number of pages instead of one.
Let me know if you run into problems.
